Cheers to the weekend ...!! well this post was support to be yesterdays news but i had to run some errands as well as my oldest had a play in school and well we had to go see our CAT IN THE HAT  in the play called "this is a catastrophe " it was a comedy  and we laugh our socks off .. 

Anyhow today i would like to show our boys bedroom so sit back and enjoy a photo heavy post ;)

So this is the view of their room from the top conner of the room where their dressers are ..

And this is the vie from their closet conner

This pillows were so much fun to make since my kids chose the fabrics ...
Btw the sheets are curtesy of my beautiful mother .. and the blue and green reversible bedding are from Kohls  about 2 years ago but just recently i took them put of their package for use .

This awesome leather pouf I'm so addicted to them i think i have one in every room of my house {not kitchen bathrooms or dinning room } but seriously how amazing are they ! ...,{Ive have been wanting to open a store on etsy for a long time now what do you think if we sell some of this ??}

Now this is the side of the room that you come in from the hallway and other part of the house and those two doors lead to their closet  and if you want to see that let me know..

Their bedroom is lacking on wall decor because two reasons ... i dont like the paint color since is the same one we rented the house with and two because i haven't found the right arts for them if anyone have any ideas on wall color or art please i would love to hear them .. thank you.

 This is their toy conner yes they do have a playroom but here in this awesome trunk that by the way has two drawers underneath and i found this from less than 200.00 buckaroos at my happy place aka HomeGoods .Well this is were they keep their most love toys , special collections and so on  also that red basket was found at HomeGoods and it holds their most love stuffed animals and underneath is their humidifier that is correctly out of order since it hasn't been dry around here for a few months now { after this pictures were taken the humidifier when down to the storage room until further needs } oh btw those mennions there are actually 2 of them and the boys won them recently at a school fair . The woody pillow is my oldest son pillow since he was a day old was a gift from the hospital he was born in and he has never part from it since . Curtains were also a HomeGoods find about 8 months ago and last but not least that little pendant was made by my oldest son all by himself with things he found at the beach were his grandparents live.

Drift wood and some shells  were all finds from the beach fishing thread and beads are all from Oma's and Opa's  house {grandma and grandpa in German }.
he was so proud of himself as well as we were he did an amazing job and he wanted to hang it somewhere he could see it everyday and well whats better than in his own bedroom right?.

This is the view from the hall connecting the boys room , Annaliah's room ,linen closet , kids bathroom and living room . with their lights off ..and only their party lights on witch i would like to thank my parents for those awesome bluetooth speakers they are similar to the old lava laps but with water and lights and the kids move them .. so thank you..

boys bed {part 3} the reveal

happy thursday .....today is a very special day since I'm finally going to be revealing the boys beds .. so drumroll please nahhah jk jk .. well jut to give you a re cap if you haven't seen the other part 1 and part 2 of the making of the beds you can check them put HERE and HERE .

Well then lets start ....

This is what the beds look like .....fully finish with the headboard in place and everything .. the whole decoration of the shelves hasn't really happened yet in fact the boys where the ones that did the decorating and i left it like that since it was a special touch and i thought it didn't look bad..

Note :dont mind the lighting in this room because is super hard to photograph since is a very dark room  the only tow windows it has are in the very back of the house and not much sun or light comes though them {but thats just how the boys like it }

Now a look from the other side ...

A little close up on the headboard you said ?? of course..

Is a very simple headboard since the beds are so massive i wanted to give it a little more of the masculine touch with the leather but still comfort and a bit of style .. {btw my husband designed this beds all on his own }this was his very first alone project  well i helped along the way but this was all his designed i didn't have a saying on anything  and i love them ...so keep up the good work honey .

Moving on to the center  and no the bed are actually the same size we did the measurements but the floor in one side of the room is a little lower than in the other side by a about an 1 in and that doesn't not make a lot of difference you cant actually tell at all unless you but this bed together and then well you'll notice .

Oh btw if you are wondering what are the little boxes next to the shelves well thats how they control the lights ...

Moving on to the hardware since we are going with a travel theme in this room mostly Nautical the hubs decided to use this pulls that scream treasure chest!! doesn't it ??

Okay now a look into the beds at night  or well in the case with the lights off ..

 Ps:the lights change colors on their own or they stay still on what eve color you put them on ..their bedroom is not huge is actually a good size room but with this bulky beds it looks smaller and it feels smaller bit again this is a room to relax in and to sleep and what ever they want they have a huge playroom downstairs were they do their playing most of the time  but  my husband still wanted to make this room fun and whats more fun than changing color lights he said .. well i tell you that my kids  L  O   V   E   it ..




And finally this is the look from the hallway just staring at the beds ,,

well i hope you guys enjoyed it and are not disappointed for the wait because well i know this beds are not a lot people styles thats including me but they have grown in me so much the past few weeks and most important my boys love them and well thats all it matter right !..

Note : since i took some pictures of this room i would like to let you know that tomorrow ill be bringing you a more update look of their room tour since well i dont know for how long this room can stay this clean {my boys are normally very clean but boys are boys and most of it they are kids not robots and i cant expect much to say that they do make messes } also want to let you know that this room has stayed incredibly clean for the past two weeks with maybe the occasionally beds not being made but who cares when their is not a big mess to pick up {one happy mum here }.

Boys bed {part 2}

Well here we go part two of the making of the boys beds.. if you missed part one you can see it HERE 

Since the bed frame was don it war time for the headboard and storage area ..this project took us between building ,sanding ,cleaning ,priming and painting about 2 weeks {since well we both have jobs and kids to take care off }.

First the hubs stared with a simple frame {please dont mind the mess of our  garage this place can never get clean once we stet cleaning here comes one of us with another project is a vicious cycle }

He glued and nailed everything together very nice and secure  because well we have boys and they love to destroy ...

Then he framed the frame lol  please dont mind my corkiness it just happens ..

After to secure the who thing he nailed plywood to keep everything secure .

And then we added some shelfs to one side and to the other side as well plus two drawers for sucks and undies ..

We made the drawers the same way we made the ones for my desk  ,by this point we were in the priming process ..

Then i took a break to start working on the actual headboards.. (note we made this beds because we were actually moving to a different house and there the boys would of have had their own bedroom but know we are kind of stuck here for a bit witch in my opinion is kind of great }




Back to the headboards i stared with some plywood , beating foam and leather , spray glue , scissors and of course a nail gun .

First i nailed the bating onto the plywood and by the way i used double bating for more of  couching feel .

Then i laid  the leather right side down and placed the plywood and beating onto of it and there i stared cutting ..

And for the comers i did the same fold as i do with all my upholstery projects .

Is quit easy {oh by the way dont be jealous of my manicure you cant get it it is exclusive for me by my doughter only two people were rocking it at the time numero uno myself and second my husband yes !! you have seen right other than being such a great hubby and putting up with all my building and decoding craziness he puts up with our little girl tea and make-up party demands . isn't he perfect } but he is only mine !! bahhahah {evil laugh }

Back to the beds after 3 days of painting and sanding between coats and letting it dry it was time for some lights and yes lights . our boys love to read specially our oldest so since i dont really trust them with a night light been there done that kind of thing we opted for this awesome cool new lights strips curtsy of our local Ikea

And well since we didn't want our younger boy to pull on them my hubby invented this awesome keep your hands to yourself cover .

And for the back lights well we didn't need to since this will be agains the wall and there no little fingers can touch them ..

The next step was to add the headboard i made couple days before and for that you'll have to wait for the next episode of boys bed part treux...

Boys bed {part one}

Oh this is a very long post coming for many many weeks now I've said that i would show the kiddos bed and well is finally here ! and well ill have to break this into 3 parts all witch ill be bringing trough the week since  i dont want to make this post too long .


So lets get into it...


My kids had beds before pretty good beds {thats what i tough when we bayed over 1000 for them } there were very simple ones and they were actually bunk beds that we made into two bed since our celling in this house wasn't very high but after 4 years and my kids daily use {abuse} to them it was time to replace them . we fought of buying but why when we could make them for less and way more durable . First thing i wanted was storage ! i need storage ! my kids love to display things so that was a most ...!!

For this project we use 12in by 1 1/2in  wood ,nail guns ,lots of nails and pins , paint , paint gun , {the majority of tools used in this projects were all air tools .}



The steps for the frame were pretty easy peasy similar to the ones found HERE

We measure it not one or twice but 3 times i didn't want to make any mistakes 

We use this sander to get all straight / smooth edges .

And also to make smooths curves ..

Like this ..since i didn't want any sharp edges {you know boys will be boys }

To paint the whole bed we use this paint gun .. may i add how much i heart this tool!! makes painting such a breeze literary .

 And well here you have the bed frame  with only the primer by this point ..
