Annalia's room updates

Well since we are not moving anymore for at least two years i finally decided to make this our hem fro the time being and the owner give us thumbs up on the whole changing this up witch is great .. like the boys rom our little girls room is lacking on the wall department .. so i decided to do something about it last weekend .

She loves girly things and polka dots of course make that cut but i honestly didn't want to buy anything that i cant easily take off later so i went onto my craft closet looking for something to use and i found this wall stickers from target but well there were not exactly polka dots but i knew i could work with them ..

To be able to get a few polka dots i use this hole puncher/cuter thing that i found at Michael's fro less than 15.00 buckaroos a while back also i uses a coupon and i got it for about 8 dollars witch HELLO was a lot better than 15 bahha.

i opened the package and this is what they look like half a circle  and well i could of put two together and made a circle but they were way too big like that  so i stared cutting two circles per half a circle of the sheet .

 like this ..

Next step was o stick them to the wall witch was super easy ... {note : i only did it to one side of the wall as well as some surroundings since i have other plans for the other side of the room ..}

until next time ...

boys bed {part 3} the reveal

happy thursday .....today is a very special day since I'm finally going to be revealing the boys beds .. so drumroll please nahhah jk jk .. well jut to give you a re cap if you haven't seen the other part 1 and part 2 of the making of the beds you can check them put HERE and HERE .

Well then lets start ....

This is what the beds look like .....fully finish with the headboard in place and everything .. the whole decoration of the shelves hasn't really happened yet in fact the boys where the ones that did the decorating and i left it like that since it was a special touch and i thought it didn't look bad..

Note :dont mind the lighting in this room because is super hard to photograph since is a very dark room  the only tow windows it has are in the very back of the house and not much sun or light comes though them {but thats just how the boys like it }

Now a look from the other side ...

A little close up on the headboard you said ?? of course..

Is a very simple headboard since the beds are so massive i wanted to give it a little more of the masculine touch with the leather but still comfort and a bit of style .. {btw my husband designed this beds all on his own }this was his very first alone project  well i helped along the way but this was all his designed i didn't have a saying on anything  and i love them ...so keep up the good work honey .

Moving on to the center  and no the bed are actually the same size we did the measurements but the floor in one side of the room is a little lower than in the other side by a about an 1 in and that doesn't not make a lot of difference you cant actually tell at all unless you but this bed together and then well you'll notice .

Oh btw if you are wondering what are the little boxes next to the shelves well thats how they control the lights ...

Moving on to the hardware since we are going with a travel theme in this room mostly Nautical the hubs decided to use this pulls that scream treasure chest!! doesn't it ??

Okay now a look into the beds at night  or well in the case with the lights off ..

 Ps:the lights change colors on their own or they stay still on what eve color you put them on ..their bedroom is not huge is actually a good size room but with this bulky beds it looks smaller and it feels smaller bit again this is a room to relax in and to sleep and what ever they want they have a huge playroom downstairs were they do their playing most of the time  but  my husband still wanted to make this room fun and whats more fun than changing color lights he said .. well i tell you that my kids  L  O   V   E   it ..

And finally this is the look from the hallway just staring at the beds ,,

well i hope you guys enjoyed it and are not disappointed for the wait because well i know this beds are not a lot people styles thats including me but they have grown in me so much the past few weeks and most important my boys love them and well thats all it matter right !..

Note : since i took some pictures of this room i would like to let you know that tomorrow ill be bringing you a more update look of their room tour since well i dont know for how long this room can stay this clean {my boys are normally very clean but boys are boys and most of it they are kids not robots and i cant expect much to say that they do make messes } also want to let you know that this room has stayed incredibly clean for the past two weeks with maybe the occasionally beds not being made but who cares when their is not a big mess to pick up {one happy mum here }.

well until next time ..

Boys bed {part one}

Oh this is a very long post coming for many many weeks now I've said that i would show the kiddos bed and well is finally here ! and well ill have to break this into 3 parts all witch ill be bringing trough the week since  i dont want to make this post too long .

So lets get into it...

My kids had beds before pretty good beds {thats what i tough when we bayed over 1000 for them } there were very simple ones and they were actually bunk beds that we made into two bed since our celling in this house wasn't very high but after 4 years and my kids daily use {abuse} to them it was time to replace them . we fought of buying but why when we could make them for less and way more durable . First thing i wanted was storage ! i need storage ! my kids love to display things so that was a most ...!!

For this project we use 12in by 1 1/2in  wood ,nail guns ,lots of nails and pins , paint , paint gun , {the majority of tools used in this projects were all air tools .}

The steps for the frame were pretty easy peasy similar to the ones found HERE

We measure it not one or twice but 3 times i didn't want to make any mistakes

We use this sander to get all straight / smooth edges .

And also to make smooths curves ..

Like this ..since i didn't want any sharp edges {you know boys will be boys }

To paint the whole bed we use this paint gun .. may i add how much i heart this tool!! makes painting such a breeze literary .

 And well here you have the bed frame  with only the primer by this point ..

And thats all for today but here is a little sneak peak of tomorrows post..

so until next time...

DIY : tassel garland

Ive been very behind posting projects that we have accomplish in our home so to that one of my new years resolution is (to find time 3 to 4 times a week to post one of our many projects that are always coming up or better say that i bring up in our home }.

a few months back i decided to start working on our kids room staring with our doughter Annaliah .. so far I've posted about ..her custom ombre drapes , tea/coloring table , new pillow , headband and bows organization , and even a new coset set up oh and what about her xmas presents from last year?

As anyone can see she is very girly more than me even ! ..she loves all pink and sparkle things  so i went with the flow of the room for the tassel .. i decided to go with ombre pink and added some sparkle with the gold.

Materials

  • /2 sheet of tissue paper/mylar per tassel
  • scissors
  • ribbon/cord
Step 1: Gather materials.

Step 2: Fold a piece of tissue paper in half and in half the other way. Cut strips towards the fold to create the fringe, leaving about 1 to 2 inch uncut at the fold line. Once all strips are cut, unfold the tissue and cut in half so you have 2 sheets with fringe (to make 2 tassels).

Step 3: Unfold tissue paper.

Step 4Begin rolling tightly down the middle crease.

Step 5: Continue rolling, fold in half and then twist to create a loop for hanging.

Step 6: Repeat to create additional tassels in various colors. Hang from thin cord or ribbon.

 Step 7: Step back and enjoy!!!...

Nautical shelves :Boys room

Can i please hear an AMEN !! for the boys room !! .. Its been way to long since the last time we did anything to this room !!.. last thing i did was hang some art that the boys pick up and do their closet and that seems ages ago . maybe because its been over a year and well i haven't  even posted about them !! {shame face here }..

Any how ..about 3 weeks ago we decided to make some must deserve shelves for their bedroom . and do to that they are boys and love anything nautical, dinosaurs , and travel we decided on doing some Nautical /old charm kind of shelves with a bit of rustic but modern vibe .

To home of the depot we went or as my mum calls it .. our second home {honestly it might be our first since we are there every single day !!!}.

Tools

Table saw
Clamps
Table sander {not pictured}
Palm sander {hand sander }
Drill
Drill bits {not pictured}
Measuring Tape
Ruler
Stud finder
Leveler
Paint sponges
Goggles for safety
Sand paper {not pictured}
*we used the 60 grits and the 200 grits after to give it more of a smooth finish .

Material

Wood : 3 - 1x12
Rope  3/8 -50ft
Stain :dark walnut by Minwax
screws {not pictured}
Hook screws
Eye hook screws

Step 1: my amazing hubs did the cutting of all the wood sine {I'm afraid of using the table saw} shush. ...

{Ps : dont mind the mess in the back thats a different project we are working on !}

Step 2: clamped 3 piece of wood and drill two holes on each end for the rope

 Step 3 : i stained all the wood ... and i let it cure for about 5 hours  {love this satin}

Ps: i would like to apologize a head of time for the very poor lighting since it was already a bit late and this room is a bit dark

Step 4 and 5:  we installed the shelves on the wall {when i mean we i did like 2 and he did the rest} very careful so everything would be label  and study .

I want to add that the whole  rope thing was hard at least for me since  to make level knots took me  about 30 minutes on one . but then i got the handle on it and it took me half that time on the second and third and so on. {witch it only took the hubs about 5 to 10 minutes }

Step 6: show the kids and sit back and admire the work ..

Ps : i haven't decided on how to organize and decorate the shelves yet but i have a few ideas so dont mind was on it at the moment
Pps : we made the shelves with space for the kids new tv {witch is a bit bigger than this one and it covers the whole space in the middle of the shelves }

Update : i understand that not all the parents let their kids have tvs in their bedrooms and i dont see anything wrong with the but in our family we do since we let them watch their favorite shows there about 1 to 2 hours a day in silence while i prepare for dinner {plus it was also a gift both of them } thank you.

Custom ombre drapes

It just seems like have been doing a lot of work on our daughters room lately but actually we have done bait of of work all trough the house yes i know we are moving {sad face} but we still want to live comfortable for the remaining 5 months of our lease as well as great our guest with a well organize and welcoming home .

Our daughter's room was lacking on the curtains department I've been putting it off  because i didn't know what she would like and went i mean her i also mean me  {she is very opinionated as her mama} so a year past and no luck on what to buy or even what fabric until one day i was reading the doctors closet blog and she put on the home tour of her office it was instantaneous connection to her drapes !! i want add that my office/is also very similar as her {home office tour very soon } i want to add that since i don't want any confusion of "oh she copied her " no!! i didn't !! i guess just great minds think alike . {back to the curtains}i get side track very easy so on this one i did copied her I've never seen such a beauty and for my luck i had the fabric in the same exact colors  witch it it was fantastic .

Materials:
*Fabric variation of pinks and whites
*thread
*fabric chalk
*measuring tape
*measuring ruler
*scissors
*pins
*sewing machine
*pomp pomp trim
*clip rings
*drape rod

Cost :
*free {since i had everything already }
*But i calculated and buying this fabric from joins or any fabric store will cost you about 8 to 12 dollars a yard{i used 8 yards of each fabric} {no i didn't buy it there i actually buy my fabric in rolls from a private seller} the pomp pomp trim as well but you can buy it at joins ,hobby lobby , Michael's  for about 4 to 6 dollars a yard. {i used 9 1/2 yards of the trim } not counting any discounts that they might have  . {the pomp pomps trimming as well as the fabric i get in in bulk from the same private seller in case y'all where wondering }

Time :
*5hrs
*4 hrs of cutting sewing and 1 hour of washing and drying the fabric.

Step 1: i needed to cut each pice of fabric into 8 yards then cut half to make each panel into 4 yards because thats what i need for each window .

Step 2: was to cut { I marked and cut 22 inch long on each fabric giving me a lot of extra fabric to cut and adjust later if i needed since each color had to be 18 inch long }

 Step 3 :after cutting i pined all the edges together so i could have the right notion of where to saw

Step 4:sawing time {i think this other than the cutting took about 2 hrs since i wanted everything to come out perfect store bought kind of drapes}

Step :5 i sew in the pomp pomps trimming witch to me was the icing on the cake and the most fun part of the project . {i added the pomp pomps because i wanted to give it a girly feeling not that the pink didn't but just the pink wasn't doing to for her until the pomp pomps came in to the picture } .

Step :5 {not showed} was to put this babies in the washing machine and then air dried {you can put it in the dryer but i decided not to since it was such a wonderful day out and i know i would take about 15 minutes to air dry why not right }?? going green !! \

Step:6 i used the clip rings i had and stared hanging it them onto the rod {this were left over from a clients project } the rod was from our previous home .

Step : 7 hang and enjoy the view

She is in love and so am i ... {lets have a pink palooza kind of party .} you are invited
Ps:her bedroom tour is coming up very soon as well so stay tune.
